Other Ten Percent 4/30/13

Apr 30 2013

How’s everybody’s week going so far? I don’t want to jinx things on my end but as of 3pm on Monday it’s been a pretty productive week for me. Let’s see how long I can keep that up for. I would like to keep it going all the way to like…4pm at the very least.
spending as much time thinking about ghosts as i assume ghosts spend thinking about me
Time traveling ghosts. If only they were private detectives I think CBS would just order 7 seasons sight unseen.

Jason Collins in Sports Illustrated: “As I write this, I haven’t come out to anyone in the NBA”
I was kinda wondering when this would happen. The wider world has gotten a lot more progressive but we’ll see if this opens the floodgates to the dozens of other gay people who are obviously already in professional sports or if this convinces them to NEVER EVER do this.

The last 20 seconds of this Pacific Rim trailer will make you scream
I can’t recall a movie in recent memory that has proclaimed this loudly that it was going to be big, dumb fun and gotten so much shit for it online. Every trailer I see for this I think it’s hilarious but everybody on the internet seems really convinced that they need to tell Guillermo Del Toro that his giant monsters vs. giant robots movie is silly because he obviously hasn’t noticed.

President Obama & Conan O’Brien at the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Dinner
So it turns out that Daniele Day-Lewis joke was probably the highlight but all of Obama’s speech was pretty funny.

George Washington’s Best Productivity Tricks
I’m just going to say it: George Washington’s productivity tips <<< Ben Franklin’s productivity tips. Also, are we really throwing inventor into George Washington’s lst of accomplishments now? It was the 18th century, you couldn’t put something on the end of a stick without accidentally “inventing” something. Unless you invented something I’m still using everyday we maybe just admit you lived in the 18th century and weren’t an idiot.

Marshmallow Laser Feast, London-Based Studio That Makes Incredible Light Installations
This is the kind of job I’m sure I’d eventually get bored with but this would be a pretty sweet way to make money for 3-5 years, which seems to be about the maximum life span of ways to make money these days anyway.

Coming Soon to the Small Screen: EVE: The TV Show
Okay, maybe THIS is what the future of television is going to look like? TV shows based on video game fan fiction? Probably not but it’d be sufficiently weird to catch my attention.

Reggie Watts Improvises ‘Misogynistic Serenade’ on ‘Set List’
…This is maybe the best R&B song I’ve heard in the last year. Reggie Watts is pretty much a genius.
