Other Ten Percent 2/27/13

Feb 27 2013

Well I think the huge thing for my week is off my plate now so I just have to write a few more things and then I’m officially free to go on vacation. One of the things I’ve got to write are the OTPs for the rest of the week including this one so let’s get started with that.
total rise of a staircase is calculated simply by taking number of steps and multiplying them by the rise height of each step
This is how I feel whenever anybody tells me a non-Batman related fact.

Firearms, science, and the missing pieces of public policy
Soooo what if Maggie Koerth-Baker wrote the single best piece on the gun control debate and nobody bothered to care about it because it didn’t technically agree with them?

“In the good old days, the traders were human beings. Now they are computers programmed to trade in…”
I kinda feel like the idea that the robots will beat up on each other and we’ll be able to go back to day trading is so wildly optimistic that it makes Metallica thinking they could beat internet piracy seem reasonable in comparison.

Augmented Reality: MYO muscle controller
If you get this thing in a format that’ll also give me a rough activity monitor for under $200 I think you’ve got yourself a truly revolutionary product.

San Francisco Magazine on the SF…
If this is the San Francisco uniform why the hell do I have to walk for 10 blocks before I see another dude in a shirt with a collar? Silently judging me for not wearing a hoodie still seems to be San Francisco’s idea of cutting edge menswear for 90% of dudes.

Nedroid has created the best Mega Man boss. Actually he created 8 of them last night but that one is by far my favorite.
