Other Ten Percent 2/26/13

Feb 26 2013

Trying to knock out all my work fairly early this week so I can take a vacation with Nikki to LA starting this weekend. A vacation it’s becoming increasingly obvious to me that I really really need because I’m kind of starting to lose it from working without a clearly defined break for quite some time crossed with the regular old SADs. I’m not like, going to snap or anything but I do seem to be in a place where I write 2500 word speculative fiction about bad Atlantic blog posts so that’s about the stability level I’m at right now.

Lamb of Columbia, A New BioShock Infinite Trailer
Yeah I’ll be in the theaters day one for this…wait it’s a what now? Oh yeah I thought it looked a lot like Bioshock. Oksy sure what the hell I’ll shoot people inbetween the sequences where all this stuff happens.

Rage is Back: graffiti crews save NYC from its lurking demons
I was with this review until I read “Hip-hop Holden Caufield” and now I’m trying my damnedest to not hold that against what seems to be a pretty interesting combination of early graffiti nostalgia and urban fantasy.

Material Utopias at Sandberg Instituut
All time great Bruce Sterling “I’m not quite sure if this is a burn or not” statements: “Sandberg is so cool that when they do a Maker class it’s somehow all about refuting Marcel Duchamp.”

We Buy White Albums
Hilariously strict collection criteria. Check. My favorite Beatles album. Check. Repeating an action until the repetition itself becomes more interesting than what you were doing in the first place. Also check. Yeah I think we’re ood here.

Design Fiction: Urbanscale Farevalue
The fact that I want this piece of design fiction pretty much guarantees it’s never going to happen which just makes the modest scale and well thought out consequences all the more irritating to me.

Love & Sex on the Upper West Side: The Filming Locations of The Apartment
My favorite Souting NY posts are the ones that have a close to disturbing level of detail in them so HOORAY for this one.

That time the Russians designed a hovercraft so insane we had no clue what the hell it was
It seems like that should be a thing that happened more often actually.
