Other Ten Percent 2/14/13

Feb 14 2013

I got…nothing done today. Just stared off into space trying to write about an MMO. Not really proud of myself. Also happy Valentines day everybody.

“The blue eyed people get 5 extra minutes of recess, while the brown-eyed people have to stay in”
Man it’s weird how I only ever hear about the sociology experiments that make sociologists sound like sociopaths.

Between Two Ferns, Oscars edition
Man even though it being star-studded is already the Between Two Ferns joke this is an amazingly star-studded episode of Zach Galifanakis asking people awkward questions.

So here’s a fascinating thing. Video games are weird about authorship. Sure it’s not the only collaborative media we’ve got but it’s the one where we haven’t figured out the rules of who to blame yet. You’ve got superstar creators in video games of course but they aren’t quite a director or even an executive producer and tons of games aren’t made with that kind of a figurehead at all so when something goes as totally, hilariously, news-cycle-definingly wrong as Aliens: Colonial Marines you have the interesting problem of trying to figure out exactly who you’re supposed to blame. Not sure everybody is going to find the specifics of this interesting but I think the general idea of the article will be of interest.

Also here’s a good interview with Aziz Ansari that Nikki insisted I read and she was right to because it’s awesome.
