Other Ten Percent 2/7/13

Feb 07 2013

Not a whole heck of a lot on the RSS reader today so there’s going to be some supplemental content. The good news is that you can expect a 1000 word review of House of Cards over on Tech Hive from me on Friday so that’s out of the way.

The Centrifuge Brain Project, Short Film About Bizarre Carnival Rides
I kinda wasn’t paying attention to what this was the first few times I saw it around (sometimes I’m just not in a place to watch a six minute video) and that’s a shame because it turns out I was just skipping around to all the boring bits and missing that this was actually a pretty brilliant little faux-documentary.

Gendered technology, during the rise of radio
Fun fact: nerds have always been terrible throughout all of history and they have always flipped out when somebody invites a girl.

The World Has Spoken
Okay so at least we made a good choice getting rid of the iron but a CAT people? I mean we already have the far superior scotty dog and while cats are perfectly fine there was a robot and a helicopter sitting right there that we could have picked. Once again I’m ashamed of this country. Thanks Obama!

Musica Globalista: Grimes complaining that music snobs get in her way
Who do I have to pay to see Grimes and Bruce Sterling sit down and talk to each other for an hour because I genuinely have no idea how that entire thing would go down but I find it hard to imagine I wouldn’t be amazed by it.

So I’m a bigger fan of the parts of this guide to music journalistic bullshit that are making fun of the poor journalism on display when these terms are used than the parts that just want to let music bloggers know they aren’t as cool as they think they are but I’m still fascinated by the whole thing. I’m basically a fan of everything about thisblog of things fitting perfectly inside of other things though. Finally who wants to see all the models for the various Archer characters? Because they’re right here.
