Other Ten Percent 9/7/12

Sep 07 2012

So I meant to have this written up by now but I keep getting distracted by various parts of the internet I have not sufficiently caught up on due to my week without internet. Mostly though I’ve been digging around for reactions to Obama’s speech which I liked but did not love the way I loved the Clinton and Michelle speeches. Of course he had a harder job to do and expectations were sky high so I should probably be pretty satisfied with “he did alright” but I dunno. I’ll be curious to see how the polling goes because I feel like he was the clear favorite before his speech because the rest of the convention was so strong and I wonder if he’ll break away at all or if things will stay in a relative tie with Obama having a slight electoral college edge. Hey, non-politics links.
A masterful introduction to ENCODE, one of the most impressive genome projects of our time [Afternoon Reading]
Genomics is getting weird lately you guys. Did you know that junk DNA is…probably not junk at all and is super vital to keeping us alive in ways we aren’t totally clear on yet?

How do claw arcade games work?
Hey, want to feel better about all those times you sucked at claw arcade games? This does mark the second time today that Arrested Development lied to me though. Because now it turns out that not only is love from escalating dares not a real thing but neither is mastering claw games.

Now, Start By Adding More “Nows”
Hairpin of course has the best link about Clinton’s speech…also I forgot I favorited this so I’m sorry I totally lied about the non-politics thing. Anyway this is mostly just interesting for what it shows about Clinton’s use of language.

Well I want to build something that looks like this more than I want to build this in particular but it’s still awesome.
