Other Ten Percent 8/28/12

Aug 28 2012

So I have managed to move most of my apartment with the exception of the big, heavy bullshit that is going to exhaust me. It is weird that like 99% of my stuff is going to end up being about 60% of the effort I need to expend on this move and yet that is the nature of my life. Putting a bunch of boxes into my apartment though makes it really clear how big/awesome the place is however so I’m super psyched to continue the move-in. Also I found some links for you guys. Tomorrow is where we’ll enter the real danger zone for updates since I won’t have an internet connection in the apartment itself.
Lights Out
I have to confess that I’ve never been fully engaged in this meme but there’s something about seeing thousands of people thrilled to be listening to a song I mostly just think of as the Korean “Sexy and I Know It” that makes the whole thing seem super thrilled.

Bigfoot hoaxer killed
So we can pretty much just end the Darwin awards now and declare this guy to be the ultimate winner right?

Where the hell is King Richard III’s body? [Secret History]
History continues to be weird beyond all belief. I mean this is actually fairly normal as crazy shit from European history goes but it still seems a little bit like totally losing the burial ground of John Adams or something.

The Floating Farmhouse on East 29th Street
How did I never end up seeing this place? I must have walked past it before and yet “oh look it’s a totally bizarrely out of place floating farmhouse” never occurred to me?

Beautiful jellyfish photography
Pretty much just does what it says on the can but despite my confusion over/fear of jellyfish (they’re basically just invisible bags of tissue that sting the fuck out of you if you come into contact with them) I love this.

San Francisco Cafe Four Barrel Bans Talking Like a Hipster & Instagram
I also love this even though I don’t care about coffee. The San Francisco neighborhood blogger that discovered it tried to make fun of them for putting this up but the jokes on them because you kind of can’t argue with this sign without just being a terrible person. A fact they reconfirmed with the updated rules.

Why it’s so hard to find photos of Neil Armstrong on the Moon [Space]
I was waiting for a framing of Neil Armstrong’s death that didn’t depress me all to hell and this is at least a fascinating look at people being wrong and us not going back to the moon any time soon.

Emma Stone pays tribute to Blade Runner with stunning photoshoot [Sci Fashion]
Man I love Emma Stone. Not even romantically. I just want to get drunk with her and then high-five her about how rad she is. Did you guys see that spiderman interview where somebody asked her about her hair and she just went off on how nobody ever asked her a decent fucking question because she was a woman? It was awesome.

Star Trek fans rescue Enterprise-D bridge, plan to restore it to former glory
I want to be all “nerds” about this but if I had found the bridge to the enterprise sitting in a dumpster somewhere I’d pretty much be doing this myself.
