Other Ten Percent 12/12/11

Dec 12 2011

I feel like OTP withers and dies when I start doing the whole thing as a kind of rote exercise. Then it’s not so much about writing as it is about filling in the blanks. Follow me down into the real entry where I’ll give you guys an example and then just talk about something else.

——–Today’s Original Topic———-
See I was originally going to wax poetic on this mildly interesting piece of futurism. I was going to clarify that it’s not exactly right because it isn’t that you either want to materialize stuff or have it all evanesce it’s that you want both in turn and then post a video that’s sort of fictionalized version of what I was talking about and then I was going to end with a clever little phrase. In this case it was going to be “I want my ephemera to actually be ephemeral.”

Honestly though I’m kinda bored being vaguely ahead of the curve on what the future is going to look like. Don’t get me wrong I still want to know what the future is going to look like and I feel weird when I don’t but I don’t so much want to spend all my time acting like I’m an authority on the whole thing. In fact, let’s talk about something else entirely.

————-David is Coming to New York————–
At the end of the month! I feel like I keep forgetting to tell you guys that my parents and I will be spending Christmas in New York this year and, as an added bonus, Nikki will be joining us starting on the 28th or the 29th so you guys in NY finally get to meet her. I have already started prepping by figuring out how to retrofit my SF wardrobe (built for fairly regular rain and weather no lower than 48 degrees) into a NY winter Wardrobe (Snow/Sleet/Rain and temperatures that start with a -) as fast as possible. I’ve been watching this hypnotic video on how to tie my scarf, looking up where I can get some good winter boots and trying to figure out which sweaters I own can actually keep me warm.

I’m also trying to figure out what I should be doing while I’m there. Nikki and I are going to see Sleep No More obviously and we’re trying to work out some New Years Eve plans but other than that my schedule’s pretty open so if you guys know any fun stuff going on around the holidays be sure to let me know.
