Other Ten Percent 11/29/13

The hardest part of this format is figuring out what day comes after the last entry I did. Seriously. I spent most of the last post thinking Thanksgiving was on the 29th for some reason and only realized my mistake at the last possible second. Figuring out what day it’s going to be a week and a half from now is really hard you guys. Feel sorry for me.

Welcome to my Tuesday that is your Wednesday a week from now. Thanksgiving update: if you are supposed to give a fuck about that you should probably get on that before tomorrow because that plan is NOT going to work out well for you. I’ve still got time here in the past though so that’s pretty cool for me.

The new methodology has made it kinda difficult to figure out what I should cut from OTP. I had 14 entries just now for this, my second OTP I wrote today and I could have just rolled four of those over into my next one. In the end I decided twenty “a day” is a pretty good amount of entries to shoot for and didn’t force a few of the entries that I didn’t have much to say about. This has been “how the sausage is made” with Other Ten Percent.

How is Thanksgiving prep going there in the future you guys? I’m asking because today for me was the first time this year I’d really considered that was something I was going to need to think about and I wonder how that vague anxiety will be manifesting itself in a week. WE MAY NEVER KNOW…but we probably will though.

Not going to lie, I’ve been doing a LOT of these today and I’m sort of out of conversation topics as a result. Mostly I’ve just kinda been doing coding experiments and considering various implications of writing a heavily time delayed link aggregator. Also, finding all these links obviously.

I’m really curious what it’ll be like if I keep banking these early. At this point I’m still not even a week ahead of actual time (though it’s getting close) and I’m already seeing some weird effects. I wonder if they’ll ever get so far ahead of real time that link rot starts to be a problem. Probably not.

Man, what even is the deal with Tuesday? Who does Tuesday think it’s fooling? Just because you’re not monday doesn’t mean you’re getting off the hook that easy Tuesday. Just because I have no idea where I’m going with this doesn’t mean you’ll get away with what I’m presuming is some dastardly scheme or something? This really didn’t pan out. Links.

So in the past week (from my POV, time moves differently for us both now remember) my parents have both been sick and Nikki has been sick and now I have a tickle in the back of my throat that never seems to become MORE than that but also has me in a state of constant paranoia as I try and avoid getting sick before Jane’s party on Saturday night (again, time moves differently) which so far seems to be going well but WHO KNOWS really.

Unintended Scientific Discoveries
It feels weirdly appropriate that we’ve burned through anti-bacterials so quickly that they’re useless now given that it never really felt like we earned that knowledge in the first place.

Cabin in the Woods director could pen new Daredevil series
Maybe if I pin all my hopes for Marvel TV on stuff like this Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will get really good now that I’ve finally given up. It worked for Dollhouse.

Netflix Rolls Out a Redesigned “Cinematic” Interface for TV-Connected Devices
This standardization does not seem to have hit my console yet but maybe Netflix just forgot the Wii U was a thing? That seems depressingly plausible.
